CROP Walk
Every October, a great mix of adults, youth, and children represent St. Paul’s at the CROP Walk for Church World Service, where neighbors walk together to take a stand against hunger in our world. They raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting. Half of the money raised by this event goes to combat hunger globally while the other half stays right here in Ocean County. This year’s walk will took place on October 19th in Toms River.
Kybartai United Methodist Church
We partner with a small, struggling United Methodist congregation in Kybartai, Lithuania to help reestablish the community of Christian faith there. We also pursue a connected and supportive relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ by exchanging periodic newsletters, cards, and DVD’s. Updates are found on the bulletin board or pick up a Kybartai informational brochure in the Fellowship Hall. For more information contact Jane Marion at the church office.
St. Gregory’s Pantry
Located in St. Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant Beach, the Pantry is operated by a multi-denominational consortium of area churches as an emergency food pantry to provide food to families in need in the greater Point Pleasant area. We provide both financial support and items to stock the shelves. In addition, the churches that run St. Gregory’s provide a monthly meal for the disadvantaged, elderly, and/or alone in our community. Our turn to host and prepare this monthly Friendship Dinner comes around each May. The churches also throw a monthly party for the residents of Joan Valentine House. St. Paul’s “throws” this party each February. Each month there is a special focus for donations:
Kits For Providence House
Every three months or so, we assemble between 20 to 30 Health Kits for Providence House, a local shelter for battered women. These kits provide basic toiletries for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. This is an ongoing mission, so your donations of travel sized shampoo, cream rinse, toothpaste, deodorant, tissues, combs, toothbrushes, regular (bath) sized soap, and matched wash cloths and hand towels are always needed. There is a box located in the Fellowship Hall for this purpose.
Cancelled Stamps for Methodist Hospital
We collect cancelled stamps for Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, an anonymous donor gives a monetary contribution to the hospital for the cancelled stamps received. There is a container for the stamps in the Fellowship Hall, the entire envelope in not necessary, nor is the postmark, just the cancelled stamp itself would be appreciated.
Campbell’s Soup Labels for Ranch Hope
We collect Campbell’s Soup Labels for Ranch Hope in Alloway, New Jersey; they participate in the Campbell’s Labels for Education Program, a collection container is provided in the Fellowship Hall.
Greeting Card Fronts For Children’s Specialized Hospital
We also donate greeting card fronts to Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River. The facility provides a great deal of occupational therapy and they can use the card fronts for various projects. They do not use the entire card, so please clip off the inside before leaving the front in the box provided.
Thank you for your compassion, prayers, and continual support for all of our missions!
